In an effort to dethrone the Ford Mustang, General Motors, after the Chevrolet Camaro, launched the Pontiac Firebird in 1967. Aggressive yet luxurious and also reliable, the Firebird was a very fun sporty car. Equipped with 6-cylinder in-line or V8 engines, the Pontiac Firebird was also available in a convertible version. In 1969, the final year of production, a slight restyling gave the car a more boxy look.
