At the beginning of the 2000s, the Daimler-Chrysler group resurrected the name Maybach, the famous luxury car brand of the 1920-1940 period. The first two models of the new course were the 57 and 62, based on the Mercedes S Series. Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2002, the Maybachs offered 5513 and 5980cc engines. The short-wheelbase 57 received in 2005 an AMG engine developing 612 horsepower (57S version). Then came the time of the 57 Zeppelin, with 640 horsepower.
