Built specifically as a car to break the world speed record held by Blitzen-Benz, the Fiat S76 was also known as the 300HP for the power delivered by its 28353cc in-line 4-cylinder engine. In 1911 the car was sent to Great Britain: Pietro Bordino first tested it on the Brooklands track then on the Saltburn beach where it reached 200 km / h. The following year, on the Ostend straight, Frenchman Arthur Duray reached 225 km / h, while in April 1912 on Long Island he covered the mile at about 290 km / h.
