This luxury convertible, which had only the name in common with the 3-liter spyder of 1958, must be considered the direct successor of the 500 Superfast. It came with several new solutions that would be found in the subsequent production of Ferrari. The engine was derived from the single-shaft V12 that fitted the 365P racing cars owned by private teams in the 1966 season. Production of the 365 California was very limited, with only 14 units made between July 1966 and August 1967.
