The Ferrari 275 P2, together with the 330 P2 model, represented the natural evolution of the prototypes used during the 1964 season. The engine of the 275 P2 was the already well-known 3285cc V12, which developed about 350 horsepower. The biggest innovations were in the frame, which was built with tubular trusses with riveted aluminum panels, a solution that allowed to reduce weight. Despite the competition from Ford, the Ferrari 275 P2 managed to establish itself in important races such as the Monza 1000km and the Targa Florio. These wins, and others with the 330 P and 250 LM, allowed Ferrari to win the 1965 sports constructors' championship.
