The Shopper was built in the early seventies by a small company based in East Berlin, called Automobilewerk Walter Schaetzle, named after its founder. Equipped with a 293cc two-stroke 15hp two-stroke engine of Glas origin, the Shopper had a very simple body, made up of plasticized metal panels.
