The 1400 was the first totally new post-war Fiat from a stylistic and also a mechanical point of view. It was the first mass-produced Fiat with a self-supporting structure. Presented at the 1950 Geneva Motor Show, the 1400 had a 1395cc 4-cylinder engine with a power of 44 horsepower. A cabriolet version was also made. A 1901cc diesel engine was also introduced in 1953 (the first use in Italy of a diesel in a car). In 1954 the 1400 A was presented, with some modifications, then the 1400 B in 1956, which remained in production until 1958.
