The desire to transfigure the image of the break car is recurrent in designers since the 1940s and 1950s. In 1954 Chevrolet presented the Nomad concept car, a transformation of the Corvette roadster into a break. At the 1964 Paris Motor Show, Aston Martin exhibited a DB5 break, which was christened the "Shooting Brake" ("brake" as the horse's bridle, since this kind of luxury family car was at least originally seen as a vehicle support for hunting trips). The DB5 Shooting brake, developed by Harold Radford, will be produced in twelve units, four of which are left-hand drive.
