The Ferrari 458 Italia coupé was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009. According to a well-established practice for Ferrari, it was the turn, two years later and again in Frankfurt, of the Spider version. The 458 Spider retained the mechanics of the coupé: 4499cc V8 engine and 570 horsepower. The roof could be removed with state-of-the-art mechanisms. In place of the rollbar, two structural fairings were provided, which also performed an aerodynamic function.
