In 1960 the Opel Rekord received a new and more modern body (model P2) which replaced the Olympia Rekord produced since 1957. The P2 sedan was available with 2 and 4 door bodywork. The 4 cylinder engines were the 1488 and the 1680cc. A more refined and complete "L" trim was also planned from June 1962, available only with the 1.7-liter engine. The Rekord P2 went out of production in 1962, replaced by the Rekord A.
