The SLR is the most powerful road-going Mercedes of all time. The result of the collaboration with McLaren, with which Mercedes had achieved so many successes in Formula 1, the SLR was presented at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. Its lines evoked the legendary 300SLR of the 1950s. The engine, developed by AMG, was completely new: it was a V8 with a 5.5-liter compressor and 626 horsepower. Production was limited to 3,500 copies, for the price - at the time - of 460,000 euros. Curiosity: an Arab emir ordered eleven exemplars all together!
