Born in 1939 together with the other versions of the 6C 2500, the Super Sport was discontinued with the war, then production resuming in 1946 with new ideas. If previously the 6C 2500SS had been sold only as a rolling chassis, after the war Alfa Romeo presented an "official" body, designed by Touring. The highest point of the Touring school was reached in September 1949 when an elegant coupé debuted at the Concours d'Elegance of Villa d’Este. The cabriolet version of the 6C 2500SS, on the other hand, was mostly bodied by Pinin Farina, but there also were some creations by Touring and Bertone.
