Conceiving a large sedan that is comfortable and easy to drive: this is the challenge that Peugeot took up in the project of the 505, presented in 1979. The 505 was proposed as an alternative to the Citroen CX and the Renault 20. With its sober and pleasant style, the 505 had a fairly long career, even with sportier versions such as the GTI, with a 2165cc engine. The 505 was also sometimes used in competitions: in rallying with diesel versions, and in the French Production championship. A coupé version, designed by Pininfarina, never saw the light.
