Between the sixties and the early seventies, the range of off-road vehicles produced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd gradually expanded, with various models and petrol and diesel engines. The J30 was produced on a chassis with an extended wheelbase of 2.64 m, which was based on the metal station wagon marketed by Willys. The J30 could have a 2199cc petrol engine (76hp at 4000 rpm) and a diesel engine of the same displacement, from 61hp to 3600 rpm (J30D version).
