At the beginning of the summer of 1966, a one-of-a-kind special Lamborghini was presented, the 400 Monza, a sports car built to order by Neri and Bonacini on a 400 GT chassis. The two specialists from Modena, taking advantage of the experience accumulated with other prestigious projects, tried again the solution of building an exclusive model as they had done a short time before with the Ferrari Nembo. The result, however, was quite criticized for the massive use of chrome and for some stylistic imbalances between nose and tail. The Monza nonetheless offered interesting solutions, such as the use of aluminum for the bodywork or the very rational, sporty interiors.
