The Continental series was introduced in 1952: a generation of elegant coupes based first on the R series and then on the S series was inaugurated. The R-Type Continental was in production from 1952 to 1955 and used the 4566cc 6-cylinder, the same as the R -Type but with a compression ratio raised from 6.75 to 7.25. The Continental models had their ideal continuity with the more modern Corniche and with the 2-door coupé and sedans based on the T-series.
