Over time it has somewhat ended up in oblivion, but the Mercedes SportCoupé, a direct competitor of the BMW Compact, enjoyed some success between 2001 and 2006, with around 320,000 units sold. The car was launched in 2000 at the Paris Motor Show and deliveries began in March 2001. A restyling was carried out in 2004 and production stopped in 2006. Many versions were produced, and the most brilliant were the engines equipped with a compressor. The SportCoupé was also available with the AMG Evolution Pack, which included lowered suspension, aero kit and wider tires.
