The F310 was the car of Michael Schumacher's debut in Ferrari. The reduction of the displacement from 3500 to 3000cc imposed by the regulations forced Ferrari like all the other teams to review the engine. John Barnard designed a single-seater with revolutionary lines, also making a new gearbox. The balance of the season was positive, with three victories for Schumacher (Spain, Belgium, Italy) and third place in the drivers' standings, won by Damon Hill with Williams-Renault. Ferrari finished second in the manufacturers' championship.
