For Alfa Romeo, the P2 was a fundamental car. It was Vittorio Jano who was commissioned by Nicola Romeo to design a racing car that would allow the brand to gain notoriety in competitions. The P2 was equipped with a 2-liter in-line 8-cylinder engine, which gave a power of about 140 horsepower, thanks also to the Roots compressor, connected to the engine by easily interchangeable gears. Between 1924 and 1925 the P2 conquered the main Grand Prix races, continuing the winning series also in the following years, at least until 1928. Six examples were built of the P2.
