At the end of September 1978, Fiat presented the Racing, a sporty version of the 131. Although far from the far more extreme 131 Abarth, designed for homologation in Group 4, the 131 Racing remained an interesting car. Racing had a 2-liter engine also mounted on the 132, which developed 115 horsepower. The aesthetic was characterized by a new front style, the wheel arches and the front spoiler. The interiors are also new. The mechanics received a new clutch; the set-up was more sporty.
