The car that was designed to be the heir of the Fiat 500 made its debut at the Turin Motor Show. Named 126, it was fitted with the 126.A.000 two-cylinder 594cc engine, deriving from the 500, with an increase in engine capacity and power. The first series of the 126 remained in production from 1972 to 1977. From January 1973 a version with a sunroof was also available.
