In 1979 the turbo version of the 924 went into production, alongside the naturally aspirated version. Outwardly, the Turbo was recognizable by the four ventilation slots above the bumper and the NACA socket on the bonnet, as well as the black polyurethane spoiler. The circles were also specific. The 2-liter engine developed 170 horsepower, which rose to 177 with the 1981 version, thanks to a change in the compression ratio. Production of the 924 Turbo ceased in 1982 with the presentation of the 944.
