Appearing in 1927, the first Volvo was called OV4, to be later renamed Jakob. The abbreviation OV4 simply derived from Oppen Vagn (open car) with four seats. The body shapes were simple and the car benefited from good build quality, which became one of the key elements of the Volvo brand.
