Some too extreme solutions adopted on the 1992 F92A F.1 advised Ferrari to simplify the project for 1993. The F93A was therefore more conventional and the management of the concept was again entrusted to John Barnard. The car, however, was not very competitive and Jean Alesi's second place at the Italian GP in Monza was the best result of the season. Gerhard Berger returned to Jean Alesi after four years spent at McLaren. The F93A was always unreliable and complicated to develop, without ever really being a winner.
