Carlo Abarth, in search of a prestigious collaboration, approached Alfa Romeo with a prototype based on the 1900 Super Sprint developed up to 1997cc. The bodywork was designed by Ghia. The consensus obtained by the Alfa Romeo Abarth was unanimous and many sensed the possibility of deriving a series of racing cars from it. However, the program was not followed up because Alfa Romeo decided to focus on series production.
