In an attempt to compensate for the absence of a truly large sedan in the range, in 2009 Opel chose to replace the Vectra with a car of real prestige. Thus was born the Insignia, with 4 or 5 door bodies or Sportstourer break. The engines also grew, available in a range of 4 and 6 cylinders with powers ranging from 110 to 325 horsepower. All-wheel drive versions are also available. The increasingly low demand for traditional sedans and Opel's somewhat tarnished image certainly did not allow for a large commercial success for the Insignia, which had a restyling in June 2013. In 2017 it was replaced by the second generation.
