In November 1970, Opel presented its new mid-range saloon, the Ascona. In 2 or 4 door configuration, the Ascona had a pleasant and simple shape and also served as the basis for the Manta coupe. The break version, with 2 and 4 doors, was also marketed. In production until 1975, the first series Ascona had 1200, 1600 and 2000cc engines.
