Taken over by Mercedes in 1999, it took AMG only a decade to create the SLS super sports car. Some previews of the C197 began to circulate in the fall of 2005 and the definitive car was presented in Frankfurt in September 2009. The M159 engine, derived from the 6.3 AMG V8, received special preparation. The line of the car then recalled that of the 300 SLR of the fifties. In 2012 the GT version adopted a faster gearbox and gained about twenty horsepower. An exclusive series of 350 units, called the Black Series, 70kg lighter and with a power of 631 horsepower, closed for production.
