The differences between the Porsche 910 and 907 were minimal; the 907 had a more slender body. The model was intended to participate in the tests of the 1968 world sport. During its career, the 907 was equipped with a 6-cylinder 2-liter type 901 engine or an 8-cylinder type 771 2.2-liter engine, both identical to those used on the 910. The 910 also had a long tail configuration for Le Mans. Some specimens were sold to private teams, such as the Swiss team Wicky Racing.
