The Ligier JS19 for the 1982 F1 season broke with the lines of the past to adopt a completely new design, avant-garde from an aerodynamic point of view. The Talbot Matra turbocharged V6 engine was never fitted and the team had to make do with the old V12 running out of power. Two third places were the best results of the year. Eddie Cheever and Jacques Laffite piloted the JS19.
