The GH1 was the first Formula 1 of the Graham Hill team to bear the name of the team owner. The Hill GH1 was practically the Lola T371 which derived from the T370 of 1975. The GH1, for the 1975 championship, was designed by Andy Smallman, who moved from Lola to the Embassy team to follow the GH1. In the 1975 season the car, equipped with the classic Cosworth DFV engine and Hewland FGA400 gearbox, achieved some decent results. Tony Brise, Graham Hill, Alan Jones, Francçois Migault, Vern Schuppan and Rolf Stommelen drove the GH1.
