The Biturbo marked the history of Maserati in the 1980s with its many variations on the theme. In 1985, one year after its release, the 425, that is the 4-door Biturbo, was joined by a version with a 2-liter engine, called 420. The 422 was introduced in 1988 and had the same characteristics as the 222 coupé, which was in practice the ex-Biturbo. Of the 422 928 units were produced.
