Known for its transformations, Heuliez never produced vehicles of their own until the Mia in 2010. Heuliez made rather small series for French manufacturers and even prototypes. In 1968, a coupe version with a hatchback based on the 1501 sedan was offered to Simca, but the project was not followed up.
