The first model used in the Ferrari Challenge, inaugurated with the Italian and European series in 1993, was the Ferrari 348 Challenge. This car, derived directly from the road going 348, had a longitudinal rear V8 engine of 3,404.70 cm³ with Bosch Motronic electronics, enhanced by 20 hp compared to the standard version, therefore capable of developing 320 hp at 7,200 rpm. Equipped with a steel frame with a tubular rear frame, the Ferrari 348 Challenge has been designed with independent suspension with transverse quadrilaterals both in the front and behind, disc brakes and a five-speed gearbox plus reverse. Equipped with 17 ”P Zero tires, this two-seater car had a wheelbase of 2,450 mm for a weight of between 1,360 and 1,370 kg. The 348 Challenge was used in the Ferrari series until 1995, when it replaced by the Ferrari F355 Challenge.
