While retaining close family ties with the previous production, the 6C 2500 Freccia d’Oro can be considered the first true post-war Alfa Romeo. Having discarded a project for the 5-seater sedan called Gazzella, Alfa Romeo started in 1946 the production of a 2-door sedan based on the 6C 2500 Sport chassis, with the same 2443cc engine, with a power of 90hp at 4600 rpm. Over the years, the Freccia d'Oro benefited from some aesthetic changes that made it even more modern, such as the redesigned lighting for the versions starting from 1949. The car remained in production until 1951. Some rolling chassis for specialized body builders were also sold.
