In 1969 the Alfa Romeo 33 with 2-liter engine was finally homologated in group 4, but the Audodelta was focused on developing the new 3-liter engine, which was ready in time for the 12 Hours of Sebring. The 33/3, however, showed very poor reliability, and this throughout the 1969 season, where it was also used quite rarely. At the end of 1969, the 33/3 was also equipped with a coupe body. For 1970, Autodelta decided to radically modify the project, which had obvious development limits.
