The Renault 14, presented in 1976, was intended to be a more modern version of the 16, of which it retained the qualities of habitability. Mechanically, the 14 adopted the engines of the Peugeot 104 and the rear axle of the Renault 5. The car was not a great commercial success, also due to the tendency to corrosion and uninspiring engines. The versions of the Renault 14 first phase were the L, the TL, the GTL and the TS. In 1980 the 14 was partially renewed with the second generation.
