The ATS D7 was a modified and improved version of the 1983 D6, still with the BMW turbo engine. With Manfred Winkelhock the ATS team obtained two placings out of 14 participations in 1984, and in the summer of 1984 the arrival of Gerhard Berger ensured, among other things, a good sixth place in Monza. At the end of 1984, BMW interrupted the supply of engines to the ATS, which definitively abandoned Formula 1.
