The Fittipaldi F6, designed by Ralph Bellamy, appeared as a single-seater with great ambitions. The chassis was narrow and the aerodynamics sought after and quite refined. The results on the track, however, were poor and did not improve even with the arrival of a modified version, the F6A, in the middle of the 1979 season. Emerson Fittipaldi achieved some improvements towards the end of the championship, but the car continued to show several defects, such as substantial lack of top speed.
