The Jaguar XJR was a sports model built on the basis of the XJ40 series sedan. The car initially had a 4000cc naturally aspirated engine, and the whole package (mechanics, chassis and set-up) was prepared and tuned by TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing). A few aesthetic details distinguished the standard XJ40 from the XJR; inside, leather was used extensively, with a Momo steering wheel in the same color as the upholstery. Unfortunately, the standard gearbox was automatic. The XJR 4.0 was then replaced with an even more powerful turbocharged version.
