Produced from 1992 to 1998, the Mercedes C140 series coupé had the arduous task of defending the excellent image of the brand in this category of cars. Technologically sophisticated, the C140 (first called SEC then S coupé and finally CL), was considered from a stylistic point of view as a caricature of the model it replaced, namely the C126. The car was not too popular, despite the refinement and great comfort on board. The C140 was replaced by the C215 series.
