If this line of Mercury, produced from 1949 to 1951, remained within the standards of American motoring, the line and performance differed somewhat. Available as a sedan, coupe, convertible and station wagon, the Mercury was an elegant and refined car. The engine was a 4185cc V8 that developed between 111 and 123 horsepower depending on the version. Particularly admired were some coupes prepared by coachbuilders such as the Barris brothers.
