AUTOWORLD - PEERLESS - MASTER 8 SEDAN 1931

Cleveland-based Peerless began very modestly as a builder of laundry machines, then moved on to bicycles and then to De Dion motor quadricycles. Some successes in competitions helped to increase its fame and Peerless achieved the prestige of Packard and Pierce Arrow. From 1925 the production of the engines ceased and Peerless supplied itself with 6 and 8 cylinder Continental. The last Peerless of the late 1920s were cars of exceptional elegance, thanks to the stylist Alexis de Sakhnoffsky. A final all-aluminum V16 car remained at the prototype stage. The Master 8 Limousines, one of Peerless's most famous creations, were produced between 1930 and 1931, along with the Custom 8.
