BIZARRE - MIRAGE - M1 N 14 LE MANS 1967

The Mirage (a name chosen because it could be pronounced correctly in many languages) was a modified version of the Ford GT40. Produced by the John Wyer team, the Mirage retained the structure of the GT40 but improved its aerodynamic concept. Equipped with the 4.7-liter Ford engine and later with the 5-liter engine, the car proved competitive. At Spa a version equipped with a 5.7-liter engine prepared by Holman and Moody appeared, which won the race with Jacky Ickx and Dick Thompson. At the end of the season, the Mirage also excelled at the 1000km of Paris in Montlhéry and the 9 Hours of Kyalami, South Africa, races not valid for the world championship.
