The 924 Carrera GTS was the rally version of the 924 that had obtained Group 4 homologation thanks to the production of 400 units of the 924 Carrera GT model. The 2-liter engine developed 245 horsepower, and the weight had dropped to 1125 kg. Many changes were made to the suspension system and chassis. Compared to the Carrera GT, the GTS was recognizable for the air intakes on the hood, which resembled those of the road going 924 Turbo. About sixty units of the GTS were built between 1981 and 1982.
