The first generation of the Opel Corsa was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1982. It was the smallest model ever produced by Opel and was available in various body configurations with three and then five doors. At the time of launch, the engines were a 45hp 993cc, a 55hp 1196cc and a 70hp 1297cc, the latter for the sportier versions (SR and later GT). In July 1990 there was a restyling and in 1991 the arrival of an 82 horsepower 1.4-liter engine. The Corsa "A" went out of production in 1992.
