After the closure of Cisitalia, its founder Piero Dusio emigrated to Argentina. In 1960 Dusio tried to revive the brand and in 1961 the DF85 was one of the new cars produced by Cisitalia. The DF85 was based on the Fiat 1500S and the bodywork was created by the Fissore brothers of Savigliano, one of the most prestigious Italian body shops at the time. The DF85 was built in not many examples (between 15 and 30 according to estimates).
