Zagato equipped some Giulietta Sprint Veloce chassis with special bodies, starting from 1956. These cars proved to be particularly effective also in competitions. In 1958 an updated configuration was introduced, even lighter (120 kg less than the already lightened SV, compared to 90 kg of the first SVZ). The new variant already recalled the future official version, the SZ. The 2380 mm wheelbase was the last element in common with the Sprint Veloce. Overall, 18 examples of the SVZ were built: one in 1965, three with a double-humped roof in 1957 and 14 in 1958-1959.
