In its sporty VTi version, it incorporated the ingredients that had ensured the success of the previous recipe. The 1595cc naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing gained 10hp, reaching 160hp. The engine was capable of exceptional performance, with a torque of 150 Nm at 7000 rpm. The maximum speed was 211 km/h, with acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 8”2. Production of the EG6 VTi ceased in 1996 to make room for another VTi, the sixth generation, which had the same engine.
