The 3223GT was the first Ferrari 250 GTO built, used at the beginning of the 1962 season in the presentation to the press. Originally intended for the Scuderia Serenissima, Enzo Ferrari refused to sell it to that team due to the presence in the staff of some of the men who had left Ferrari massively in November 1961. The GTO 3223GT was sold instead to Chinetti in the USA and continued its career until 1966 with American teams: Scuderia Bear, Bob Grossman, Larry Perkins.
